  • Are you a candy corn fan? Whether you love or hate the polarizing fondant candies, you can’t argue that they have become something of a symbol of the season. Pixelated Provisions put together a stunning Candy Corn Cake that makes a fine addition to any Halloween party. The cake features three different rings of batter – orange, yellow and white – so that every single slice has the look of a piece of candy corn. Not only does the cake look like candy corn, there is candy corn actually incorporated into the cake!
  • Just as the candy corn cake both uses and looks like candy corn, Lands and Flavors baked up some Sweet Pumpkin Buns that not only use pumpkin, but look like little pumpkins, too. These moist, flavorful buns are lightly sweetened and have a hint of warm, fall spice to them. Once each bun is shaped into a round, slits are cut around the sides to mimic the texture of a real pumpkin, while a cinnamon stick is added to the center to act as the stem. They’ll make a fine addition to a holiday dinner or a fall brunch.
  • Desserts that combine salty and sweet elements always get my mouth watering and the Salted Honey Pie from Love and Custard is no exception. This delightful pie has a filling that is similar to that of a chess pie and is made with a generous amount of honey. Since you are going to get a lot of honey flavor in this pie, be sure to use the best quality honey that you can find (and consider shopping at a local farmer’s market for locally-produced honey). Flaked sea salt is sprinkled on top of the pie after baking, contrasting with the sweet, custardy pie filling and flaky, buttery crust. It’s a welcome change of pace from other fall pies and might just be a few favorite.
  • Apples find their way into many fall desserts, but they can add a nice fall flavor to breakfast, as well. Chocolate Moosey‘s simple Apple Cinnamon Coffee Cake is just one tasty example. The cake is stuffed with fresh apple and seasoned with both cinnamon and nutmeg. A buttery brown sugar streusel is sprinkled over the top of the cake before baking to add some extra sweetness and give the cake a crunchy topping. Don’t skip the vanilla glaze drizzled over the top if you like your coffee cakes to be a little more dressed up, but the streusel-topped apple cake alone is just right for a fall brunch.
