The movie 50 Shades of Grey was released this past weekending, setting quite a few box office records in the process. Whether you love the movie or it’s not quite your style, it’s a good excuse to enjoy some Earl Grey goodies – and there are plenty of tea-infused treats out there.
- Hungry Rabbit‘s Pistachio Apricot Cake with Earl Grey Frosting is a cake that is packed with flavor. The dense, moist cake uses both ground and whole pistachios in the batter to give the cake a great combination of textures. The cakeis also full of brand-soaked apricots and seasoned with cardamom, orange zest, lemon zest and vanilla extract. It’s a great flavor combination that works well with the fluffy, delicate tea-infused frosting that finishes it off.
- Earl grey tea pairs very well with floral flavors, like lavender. This Lavender Earl Grey Bundt Cake from Oatgasm pairs these two flavors in a lovely cake that is perfect for a spring garden party. Both the tea and the lavender are ground finely and added to the cake batter, swirling into every bite. The finished bundt is topped with a light lemon vanilla glaze gives the cake of touch of extra sweetness and a pop of bright citrus flavor.
- A tartine is a simple open-faced sandwich – and a very elegant way of saying that you’re spreading something on toast. Oh How Civilized prepared an Earl Grey-Infused Chocolate Tartine by creating a tea-infused chocolate ganache to spread on a toasted baguette, creating toast that is a very decadent way to start your day. The ganache could also be drizzled on a favorite cake or a scoop of ice cream, for added richness.
- Tea lattes are one of my favorite ways to serve tea. They start with a strongly brewed tea that is sweetened and topped with just the right amount of steamed milk. At Brewed Daily, I made a Chocolate Earl Grey Tea Latte that is a bit more indulgent than your average cup of tea. The latte has dark chocolate melted into it, giving the drink a slightly richer texture and bringing some lovely cocoa notes – notes that pair well with Earl Grey – into every sip.
